CHENEY – Students at Kappa Sigma fraternity house party Wednesday night report being given an unknown substance in a drinking cup. Nov. 2.
The fraternity house at which the event allegedly occurred is in Cheney, not on EWU campus. “That makes it a Cheney police job.” Interim police chief Rick Bechtel said.
“Somebody saw a post on TikTok and reported it to the Cheney police and it is now under investigation.”
Bechtel said that he then reported the investigation to Chief Jewell Day of the EWU police department.
“Our detective is still working on it.” Day said. “We issued a timely warning to the entire community and we will be updating as we attain new information.”
The timely notice released by the EWU police department said “Two students reported that while attending parties at a fraternity house, they were given a cup with an unknown beverage by a male named “Thor” who is not thought to be affiliated with the university.”
The Cheney Free Press reached out to the representatives of the Kappa Sigma fraternity for comment.
Angel Amezola Rush, Chairman, said that “I have no comment. Our legal team will be reaching out to you.”
Trevor Rains, Grand Scribe, said “I have no idea, I wasn’t even there that night.”
As of the time of printing, Chief Bechtel said that “Most of what we’re seeing about this case is coming from YikYak, an anonymous social media sharing app. If we can get any external information that corroborates that material, we may be able to get a warrant for that app.”
