Candidates
You are running against Jenny Zappone as District Court Judge; what is an issue that you and she differ on concerning this position?
I don’t really know my opponent’s position on any issues. As a judicial officer, and as a judicial candidate, I’m bound by judicial canons that prevent me from publicly speaking on any issue that might come before me. Judicial campaigns are non-partisan. Practically, publicly speaking about issues would undermine the neutrality and integrity of the court.
Where we differ significantly, is what we believe the voters of Spokane County should expect from a judicial candidate.
What should voters expect from you that distinguishes you from your opponent?
I believe that the voters should expect a judicial candidate to have a wide variety of legal experience both as an attorney and as a judicial officer. In my 15 year legal career, I have handled all manner of cases. I have handled family law cases, criminal cases, estate planning cases, landlord/tenant cases. I have represented small businesses. You name it, I’ve probably done it. I started out in the public defender’s office and then opened my own office here is Spokane in an attempt to get as much different experience as I could.
