SOCCER:

Eastern bumped from ‘Sky playoffs

There will be no post-season for Eastern Washington soccer following its 2-1 loss at Idaho, Oct. 23.

A combination of Eastern’s loss in the final day of Big Sky Conference play, and the results of other contests dropped the Eagles into seventh place with the top six teams making the tournament next week in Greeley, Colo.

Weber State’s 2-0 win over Montana moved the Wildcats into the fifth seed and the Grizzlies are the sixth seed.

Idaho scored in the fourth minute, but Elisabeth Cole earned her first career goal in the eighth minute, set up by a pass from Maddie Morgan. Idaho’s winning goal came in the 55th minute.

“At this point, all we can do is look forward to getting back to work this spring and continue to improve, both individually and collectively, and get ready to compete for a championship in 2023,” head coach Missy Strasburg said.

Eastern finishes the season with a 5-8-5 overall record and 2-3-3 in Big Sky play.

Dobosh plans on majoring in education and becoming an English teacher. According to a news release, Dobosh was coached in field events by Shannon Root and also played football and baseball at CHS.
