Storytelling League spins spooky yarns

CHENEY – Spokane Storytelling League presented for families at the Festival of Ghost Stories. Sutton Park, Oct. 7. Jennilyn Weight, Constance Holland, and Andy Shields represented the League. Invited by city Parks & Recreation, the storytellers involved with this event were eager to help make the event more enjoyable for a wide audience.

"The League has been active since 1939, and it is part of the National Storytelling League." Weight said. "You get to spread fun and entertaining stories to the community. Everything changes over the years, but some stories are timeless, whether or not they have an inherent message." Weight said.

Kelly McGinley-Ash, Recreation Director, "I thought it would be really fun to include the League. I reached out to them to see if they were interested, and they were onboard!"

Also in attendance was Liz Wood, a representative from a local podcast group called Ouija Broads.

"Friends of the Cheney Library were the sponsors of this event," McGinley-Ash said, "and through their generosity we were able to make this event free to the public." McGinley-Ash went on to say "We had around 80 people in attendance, which is the best turnout ever."
