Eastern splits with Denver, UNLV
Eastern Washington lost 2-0 to UNLV in a non-conference soccer match Sept. 4. in Las Vegas, Nev. as Izzy Perez and Heather Mitchell scored first half goals for the Runin’ Rebels.
The Eagles, however, earned a split in last week’ matches — and their regular season first victory of the season — with a 1-0 win over the Denver University Pioneers at the EWU Sports & Recreation Soccer Field, Sept. 1.
Chloe Pattison scored Eastern’s winning goal in the 81st minute as Eastern improved to 1-3-2 on the season.
Next for Eastern are a pair of home matches against North Dakota State Friday, Sept. 9 at 3 p.m. followed by the University of Louisiana Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m.
Eastern, South Dakota State split
EWU volleyball left Brookings, S.D. with a win and a loss last weekend to host South Dakota State.
After trailing 2-0, the Eagles rallied to force a fifth set, losing 3-2 on Sept. 3. Katie Fleck set a new career high with 17 kills while Lindsey Russell recorded her second-straight double-double with 46 assists and 15 digs.
A day earlier Eastern claimed a 3-2 win, leading 2-0 before having to win a fifth set 18-16. Sage Brustad powered the win with a career-high 22 kills and Lindsey Russell earned a new career-high with 56 assists.
Eastern, 2-3, will travel to Boise next weekend for a t tournament where they will play Southern Utah, Sept. 9 and Butler later in the day. On Sept 10 Eastern faces the host, Boise State.
