Ground work underway near casino

AIRWAY HEIGHTS – A local development company has applied for a permit to add water and sewer lines and infrastructure to an 89-acre commercial site just west of the city.

Grading is already underway at the site across the highway from Spokane Tribe Casino.

The ground work is expected to pave the way for a commercial development.

An additional 79 acres of adjacent land is listed for sale.

Site work is being conducted by Copenhaver Construction of Creston.

GoFundMe account set up for fire victim

WILLIAMS LAKE – A woman has set up a GoFundMe account to raise $100,000 for a local farm damaged in the Williams Lake Fire.

Monique Smith set up the account for Sullivan Family Farms.

According to Smith, the farm was severely damaged in the blaze, as was the farm favorite ox named “Sprite,” whose hooves were damaged walking in the fire. The farm also lost 100 tons of hay, pastures, flower fields, timber and more.

As of press time, more than $9,000 had been raised from 110 donors.
