Eagles’ Clements earns All-America status

Long snapper Cody Clements represents Eastern Washington on the FCS Preseason All-American team, earning third team honors at his position. He was also selected to the second team on the preseason All-Big Sky special teams list.

On the preseason All-Big Sky team, wide receiver Freddie Roberson was Eastern’s lone representative on the first team for offense. Joining him on offense were second team selections Efton Chism III at wide receiver and Wyatt Musser on the offensive line. Fellow offensive lineman, Wyatt Hansen, rounds things out on the offensive side on the third team.

EWU home gametimes are set

All home game times for the Eastern Washington University football team for the upcoming 2022 season have been set for the five home regular season games at Roos Field.

All games will kick at 1:02 p.m., with the exception of Eastern’s Oct. 15 Homecoming contest against Sacramento State which kicks at 4:02 p.m.

 Eastern plays home games against Tennessee State (Sept. 3), Montana State (Oct. 24), Sacramento State (Oct. 15), Portland State (Oct. 29) and Northern Colorado (Nov. 19).

Eastern hosts preseason matches

The 2022 season for Eastern Washington Soccer has opened with a pair of exhibition matches to prepare for the fall schedule.

The Eagles took on the University of Calgary August 9 and have a match against Yakima Valley Community College on Friday, August 12 at 5 p.m. at the EWU soccer field.

Eastern’s regular season opens on Thursday, August 18 with a road trip to Corvallis, Ore. to take on Oregon State. The Eagles home opener will be against Nevada on August 25 at 4 p.m.

Eastern finished the 2021 season with a 3-6 record in the Big Sky and 5-12 overall in head coach Missy Strasburg’s first season. The Eagles return seven starters, along with six additional players from the 2021 roster.

EWU track earns academic honors

Two members of the Eastern Washington University track and field program, Maggie Nelson and Joe Gauthier are recipients of the Big Sky Conference Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2021-22 school year the league office announced July 29.

 

Gauthier hails from West Richland, Wash., where he graduated from Hanford High School in 2017. He recently earned his degree in health and physical education. Nelson, a 2016 Liberty High School in Spangle, Wash., graduate, earned her Master’s degree in physical education. She spent two years at Spokane Community College before joining the Eagles.
