Roberta Lee (Moormann) Brannon

Roberta "Bobbie" Lee Brannon, born on Nov. 11, 1951 passed away on June 13, 2022, after bravely fighting a battle with cancer. The daughter of Bernard "Barney" and Rosemarie Moormann.

Roberta is survived by her loving husband Keith, her sons Marc (Heather) Dayton and Curtis Brannon, and her daughter Taryn (Jeff) Brown. She has four grandchildren who she adored, Blake (12), Colton (8), Savannah (6) and Norah (6 months).

Roberta was born and raised near Chicago, Ill. She attended Homewood-Flossmoor Schools and after graduating high school, Roberta and her son Marc, moved to Spokane, Wash. where she met her husband Keith. Their courtship started when they met at a mutual friend's house in Spokane. Keith and Roberta eventually married at Manito Park in the Rose Garden in Spokane. After a few years they moved to Colfax. They had two children, Curtis and Taryn, making this their homestead for the next 28 years.

Roberta loved her family. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a fierce advocate, quick to defend those she loved, and always sought to better herself. She provided comfort and solace while asking for little in return, teaching her children integrity, loyalty, and compassion while supporting their dreams.

In her leisure time, Roberta and her family spent summer weekends at Williams Lake. She loved cooking and entertaining friends around the Saturday night bonfires. During lake time off season, Roberta pursued many different passions such as writing and cross-stitching.

Roberta and Keith owned and operated several small business ventures including Roberta's Pies (a bakery), Roberta's Gallery (a gift shop), and finally the Sears Hometown store in Cheney Washington. 

Roberta was active with Families Together of the Palouse, a group that supports individuals with disabilities to increase their resiliency, accessibility in reaching their potential, and maintaining a fulfilling life that contributes to society. She was board president for a time.

She also served on the Washington State Developmental Disabilities Council as an appointee by then Governor Gary Locke. The council advised the governor on issues and trends in providing services to developmentally disabled individuals in the state.

During her illness, Roberta fought hard and refused to back down, but ultimately lost the battle. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. She will be desperately missed by all those that she's left behind. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.

The service is July 9, at 11:00 AM, Cheney Funeral Home. Reception to follow: Keith & Roberta's home at 9703 West 72nd Ave., Cheney. (Medical Lake exit by the golf course.) The memorial service can be viewed online Sunday morning on a link at cheneyfuneral.com.
