MEDICAL LAKE – Scrambling to meet a May 25 application deadline, the Medical Lake City Council held a special session on May 24 to approve an investment-grade audit proposal for Apollo Solutions Group.
Council also discussed plans for a solar array for the Medical Lake wastewater treatment plant.
Interim Deputy Administrator Katy Allen applauded all for what got accomplished at the special get-together.
“Thank you for meeting on an odd Tuesday night,” Allen said. “And for helping us meet our deadline for the application. It was very tight, and I think I mentioned that before. This is an application to receive grant funding from the department of commerce and the deadline to submit the application is tomorrow.”
Allen explained how they had run the proper listing in the newspaper for two weeks and received a bid from Apollo Solutions Group at the last minute. She said Apollo’s track record speaks for itself, and she recommended working with them.
She then introduced the Business Development and Account Manager for Apollo, Hunter Pederson.
According to Pederson, the array will pay for itself in approximately six years.
Councilman Art Kulibert questioned why the city couldn’t build a larger facility that would possibly be even more beneficial. Pederson said that there are regulations on what can be installed.
Some concerns were raised about the aesthetics of the array by councilwoman Heather Starr. Councilman Tony Harboldt suggested adding privacy slats to the chain link fence to hide the array if any community complaints would arise.
After the concerns were addressed, council members voted unanimously to move forward with the grant application.
