Second defendant admits to his involvement
COLFAX — A Spokane Valley man pleaded guilty and was sentenced for charges stemming from the burglary and vandalism of St. Ignatius Hospital.
Louis Hibbs, 20, of Spokane Valley, entered his guilty plea in Whitman County Superior Court during a hearing Friday, May 6.
Following his plea, Judge Gary Libey sentenced Hibbs to 10 days in jail and a $1,000 restitution charge for his involvement in the February incident.
He was given a 1-day credit for time served after being arrested and held for 36 hours.

He is the second of the three Spokane-area men charged in connection with the break-in and vandalism of St. Ignatius Hospital, 1009 S. Mill St.
Hibbs, Cooper Perez, 20, and Nick Perez, 20, broke through a window, caused a number of damages while holding a firearm, and wrote obscene and vulgar language on the walls, court records show.
The case against Perez is pending, records show.
St. Ignatius Hospital reported that the men were inside for 15 minutes and caused around $750 in damages before fleeing from police at speeds at more than 100 mph, records show.
The Whitman County Sheriff’s Office reported the three men ran out of the building and sped off, before being caught U.S. Highway 195 by a deputy, records show.
Hibbs allegedly admitted to his involvement; records show he said he was the one who destroyed a security camera with a crowbar and maintained control of the firearm briefly.
Hibbs was set up with an $80 a month payment plan for restitution in the Class C felony.
Hibbs was ordered to present a written apology to the victims before June 1, records show. He will be in court again at 1:30 p.m., June 15.
