"We had an amazing meet as a team," Coach Derek Slaughter said. "I am a coach that emphasizes how important it is to compete well at the end of the season and we had a lot of PRs in this meet.

"Braxton Hinton ran the second fastest time in the state in the 200 and Syndey Reagan ran the fifth fastest time in the state in the 100m. We had event winners in the 100 and 200 boys, the 100 girls, the 100 and 300 hurdles and boys javelin. For a team that has just moved up from 2A, that is a great showing."

Slaughter said he believes the team is ready to qualify athletes for the state meet.

"This next meet (district championship) will be the toughest meet so far this season," Slaughter said. "Our athletes will rise to the occasion, and you will see a lot of PRs again. We are finally getting the weather to support this amazing crew of athletes."

Slaughter said he had nothing but praise for his coaching staff.

"We wouldn't be an amazing program year in and out without these amazing people," he said.
