Cheney Track records high marks at Mooberry meet

The Blackhawks found much success at Rogers High School on Saturday, April 23. Coach Derek Slaughter had high praise for both the girls and boys team.

"It was the best ever performance by Cheney in this long0time meet," Slaughter said. "Almost everyone on the team got a medal or ribbon of some kind and there were smiles everywhere."

Eighteen schools from around the area attended the event named after the Jack Mooberry, the legendary Rogers High School and Washington State University track coach.

The format of the meet is different from the typical meet. It's called a relay meet and there was plenty of them. The girls sprint relay team of Sydney Reagan, Jenna Mansfield, Hannah Ward and Carissa Hinton finished with a time of 4:32.51 and were edged out at the finish line by North Central, who took the event.

Konner Dobash and Jonah Ward took the combined javelin event with distance of 308.' Dobash's throw of 168'6" set a new school record. Other high places at the meet were Sydney Reagan who took fifth in the 100m, Hannah Ayers who placed sixth in the 100m hurdles, and fifth ion the 300m hurdles.
