Margaret Eileen (Longbottom) Showalter

Margaret Eileen (Longbottom) Showalter was born on Nov. 18, 1923, and was the middle child of Okanogan Valley homesteaders, Ben and Myrtle Longbottom. Eileen graduated from Okanogan High School and attended the Eastern Washington College of Education.

During her life, Eileen held many roles. She taught 4th grade and high school for 18 years, worked constantly on the family ranch, and drove long haul truck for six years with her husband, John.

She is survived by her son, David (Debi) Showalter, grandsons Ben (Kristen) Showalter, Matt (Tracy) Showalter, and Jesse Hughes, and granddaughter, Jennifer Morton. Great-grandchildren include Josie Showalter, Brookie Showalter, Peyton Knox, Jackson Showalter, Joe Showalter, Jilly Showalter, Logan Hughes, and Mason Hughes. She was preceded in death by her youngest grandson, Joel Hughes, in Sept. of 2021.

A celebration of life will be held at the Cheney United Methodist Church, 204 4th St. in Cheney, on May 7th at 11am with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in Eileen's name to Cheney United Methodist Church.
