Trustees unanimously approve contract for McMahan
CHENEY – The Eastern Washington University trustees on March 17 approved a $400,000 annual salary for new president Shari McMahan as part of her three-year employment contract.
The contract was approved by unanimouis vote.
“The president agrees to respect and obey all laws, rules, and regulations of the state of Washington and the United States of America and behave at all times in a thoroughly professional manner to elevate the positive profile of the university and so as not to bring discredit upon the president’s position or injure the reputation of EWU,” the contract reads.
The contract includes housing in the presidential mansion on campus, travel stipends, health benefits, vacation and the ability to receive outside compensation if a conflict of interest does not exist.
McMahan couldn’t be reached for comment on the contract by press time.
McMahan was appointed as Eastern’s next president after the trustees’ presidential search concluded in late February. McMahan was selected from among three finalists, including interim president David May.
McMahan is slated to start June 24; her contract expires June 30, 2027.
May will remain interim president until she starts.
