State Farm announces $25,000 grant program

AIRWAY HEIGHTS – According to a recent press release, Airway Heights Agent Tammy Rigsby announced that State Farm is celebrating a 100-year anniversary and is expanding the company’s State Farm Neighborhood Assist grant program.

Previously the program offered 40 grants of $25,000, but this year the company is offering 100 grants totaling $2,500,000. These grants will go to non-profit organizations to help fund neighborhood development strategies.

Speaking on the importance of the program, Rigsby said, “Grant programs that address community needs, like Neighborhood Assist, are more important than ever,” in the press release. “This initiative truly embodies the spirit of being a good neighbor,” she continued.

The company is also allowing up to 4,000 submissions to be entered, which is twice the amount they had previously permitted.

The process starts on February 16, and submissions will be accepted until 4,000 have been taken. The State Farm review committee will then process them and choose 200 finalists.

According to the press release voting will happen between April 26 and May 6, and voters will have a chance to vote ten times a day for ten days in a row.

The winners will be chosen by the number of votes received, and the $25,000 award winners will be announced on June 7.

The press release said last year brought in 125,000 people casting over 3 million votes to support causes, and the program has funded a total of 380 neighborhood projects totaling over $10 million.

In the same media release State Farm Assistant Vice President Rasheed Merritt said, “State Farm Neighborhood Assist truly embodies the spirit of what our company has been about for 100 years-being a good neighbor and we are excited about expanding the program in 2022 to help even more neighborhoods.”
