Cardinals soar in win over Grizzlies

MEDICAL LAKE – The varsity boys Cardinal basketball team hosted the Newport Grizzlies on December 17, and dominated the game to win 71-29.

The Cardinals started the game strong putting up 20 points in the first quarter, and it was due in large part to the team finding and making open high percentage shots. Medical Lake's assist numbers were high, and they moved the ball well throughout the game.

As a team, the Cardinals made 13 three-point shots. Five of those shots were drained by the game's scoring leader Noah Keister who finished with 21 points. Eugene Haas III also added a trio of three-point shots and 17 points to the stat sheet. Haas was also perfect from the foul line during the game making all of his free throws.

Oran Rhimer also made three triples, and ended up adding 14 points to the score as well as snagging multiple steals defensively.

Not only did the Cardinals put points on the board, but Medical Lake also dominated defensively. The Cardinal guards had a high number of steals leading to easy transition and fast break points, and the big guys such as Reid Headrick blocked several shots on the night.

Medical Lake improves their overall record to 3-4 while Newport falls to 0-5.

The varsity girl's game was cancelled.
