Cheney woman found dead in Cancun

Sativa Transue’s body was returned to Spokane

CHENEY – The body of a former local woman found dead in Mexico over the Thanksgiving holiday has been returned to Spokane.

Cheney High School and Eastern Washington University graduate Sativa Transue, 26, of Milton, was on vacation with her boyfriend Taylor Allen, 31, when her family was notified that she had been found dead in the couple’s hotel room in Cancun, Mexico.

Allen was arrested by Mexican police and is being held on murder charges, according to Riviera Maya News and several local newspapers.

The Transue family was just able to get the body returned Spokane by working with a lawyer who negotiated her release with the Mexican authorities.

Sativa’s sister said that she had a physical altercation with her boyfriend after they arrived at the resort.

Sativa sent a flurry of text messages to her sister confirming the altercation and said she needed stitches after Allen drunkenly hit her, records show. The next morning, she was found dead.

The family is still seeking answers with the help of American and Mexican authorities.

Now that Sativa’s body has been returned, the Transue family is planning a celebration of life.
