Patrick Eugene Deresch

Oct. 16, 1953 – Nov. 1, 2021

It is with heavy but hoping hearts that we announce the death of Patrick Eugene Deresch, 67, originally of Minn. He passed away on Nov.1, 2021 at home in Spokane after a valiant battle with cancer. Having enlisted in the US Army at the age of 16, he proved himself a good soldier to the end, and endured great pain without complaint or blame.

"Pat" is survived by partner Shay; his beloved aunt Beverly; step sister Sissy; daughters Cathy and Kristy; grandchildren Chase, Cole, and Melissa; and former wives Mary and Cindy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Delight and Norbert Deresch, and his brother Shawn.

Those who spent time around Pat knew him to be one of a kind. He dressed often in a cowboy hat and suit coat with his dog Polly nearby and he was always busy on a project. He never boasted about his abilities, but it seems he could do anything. Whether growing a garden, painting a mural, or renovating a house, he was highly-skilled and hardworking. He delighted in giving gifts, especially to children, who in his opinion could never have enough sugar or toys! He taught as he worked, not shooing away anyone who was interested in learning how something was built or done.

His life and work especially left an imprint on those he served at Cheney Community Church, which he helped build, protect, and maintain. He was well known and loved there. His passing leads his church family to deeper hope in the salvation of God through Jesus Christ, and they thank God for the fullness of life and creative abilities he gave to their dear friend.

A memorial will be held for him at Cheney Community Church at 1 PM on Sat., Nov. 13. He will be laid to rest near his family in Minn. following a funeral in the spring.
