A win gets Blackhawks in

CHENEY – The Blackhawks girls slowpitch softball team only needs one more win to make the state tournament.

The Cheney girls will play Mount Spokane at 3 p.m. at home for that state berth opporrunity.

“A win here will guarantee a spot in the state tournament,” Athletic Director Tim Kennedy said. “Please be sending good vibes towards our softball athletes as they have been doing amazing this year.”

Cardinals look for a home win

MEDICAL LAKE – The Cardinal girls (0-8) girls have one more chance to get their first soccer win of the season.

But they’re going to have to get past one of the best girls teams in the state, the 12-1 Deer Park Stags.

The home game is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21.

Deer Park is ranked No. 3 in the state in Class 1A girls soccer coming into the game.

Blackhawks travel to University

CHENEY – The Blackhawks soccer team looks to improve on its 6-7 record Wednesday, Oct. 20, as the local girls travel to University to play the 4-9-1 Titans.

Game time is 6:30 p.m.; the newspaper went to press before gametime.

The Blackhawks are coming off a 2-1 overtime win over the Ferris Saxons on Monday, Oct. 18.

Cheney scored in the first half; Ferris in the second. The Blackhawks put the game away in overtime.

Medical Lake girls fall to Lakeside

MEDICAL LAKE – The Medical Lake girls volleyball team fell in three sets to league rival Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls) on Friday, Oct. 16.

Set scores were 25-13, 25-16, 25-13.

Medical Lake falls to a 3-5 record, while the Eagles soar to 17-1-1.

Cheney hosts Mead in volleyball

CHENEY – The Blackhawks (2-10) girls volleyball team was scheduled to host the Mead Panthers (19-3-1)in a home game Tuesday night, Oct. 19.

The game got underway at 7 p.m.; the newspaper went to press before the conclusion.

The local girls came into the game after falling in 3 sets to North Central on Thursday, Oct. 14.

The Wolfpack won that matchup 25-17, 25-9, 25-19.

Cheney next travels to Lewis & Clark (4-7) for a 7 p.m. game Thursday, Oct. 21.
