CHENEY – The Eastern Washington University women’s volleyball team is in Texas this week.
On Wednesday, the Eagles face Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas. The action gets under way at 4 p.m.
Then, the women head to San Antonio for the UIW Cardinal Classic tournament.
The Eagles open with St. Thomas at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 3, then play the host team at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4.
“It’s exciting to get back and we’re hoping to get two wins there,” Coach Leslie Flores-Cloud said. “It’s a unique facility, but we’re excited to have two opportunities there to play.”
The Texas tour continues at Prairie View A&M on Monday in Prairie View, Texas.
The local women hit the road with a 1-1 record after opening at the Idaho Volleyball Classic last weekend.
The Eagles lost 3-0 in their season-open to Grand Canyon, then spiked Portland, 3-1 Against Portland, Lindsey Russell served five aces.
After Prairie View, the women return to Cheney for their alumni match Sept. 10, then host a non-conference tournament Sept. 17-18.
Montana, Seattle and Bakersfield will be coming to the tournament. Eastern opens the tournament against Bakersfield at 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, then plays Seattle at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18.
