Cheney Congregational Church

Greetings from Cheney Congregational. You’re invited to join us for our “Church in the Park” events on Aug. 29. Partnering with a couple of other churches, we are holding our Sunday morning services outside in Sutton Park at 9:30 a.m. on those Sundays. We hope you’ll join us to learn about God’s creation while physically being in it. We hope to see you there!

Also, we welcome you to join us on Sunday mornings for in-person worship at 10 a.m. Masks are no longer required. However, there will be masks available if you want one.

On July 25, we will begin a new 5-week sermon series titled, “Slange y va! — Monastic Traditions and Ordinary Living.” Slange y va is a Gaelic toast which means “to your health and your salvation.” The Christian monastic tradition firmly believed that salvation was not something that began after death, but that begins here and now on earth, and is expressed and experienced through healthy rhythms and practices of life. We’ll dive into some of these ancient monastic practices to see what wisdom they may hold for our lives today.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to worship with us this Sunday, July 25, at 10:30 a.m.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and the Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, nonperishable food, and personal care items for all ages are always accepted. All items are “take what you need, leave what you can.” Both are open to the community 24/7. Emmanuel thanks you for your continued support of this outreach to our neighbors.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. On Sunday, July 18, we are scheduled to meet at Sutton Park at 9:30 a.m. for worship with Emmanuel Lutheran and Cheney Congregational Church. The Rev. Kathryn Lamphere of St. Paul’s and pastor Arianna Arends of Emmanuel Lutheran Church will lead the service which is based on the God given gift of water.

The memorial service in honor of our deceased priest, Rev. Christine Soule, is postponed, and will be rescheduled later, to be held at St. John’s Cathedral. We will keep you informed.

United Methodist Church

Please worship with us this week at the United Methodist Church as we continue our on line and at home worship options in preparation for a September return to our church building. Pastor Pat Sleeth will continue a new sermon series based on the book of Ephesians entitled “Geared Up For Life.” This week’s theme is “He is our Peace.”
