Second-half slumps cost ML boys

MEDICAL LAKE — The inability to put together four quarters of basketball meant a winless week in Northeast A League play for the Medical Lake boys basketball team.

Freeman used a 20-8 third quarter surge to erase a 30-26 Medical Lake lead and won 67-58 June 2. Ashton Hamilton-Becker topped Medical Lake scorers with 18 points.

Then, three days later Riverside came out of a slumber where the Rams scored just 18 first half points and rallied past the Cardinals scoring 19 points in both the third and fourth quarters for a 56-46 win.

Noah Keister and Oscar Harris each scored 13 points for Medical Lake against Riverside which fell to 3-4.

A game at Deer Park was canceled due to concerns over COVID.

Medical Lake has games against Lakeside (June 7), at Riverside (June 9), at Colville (June 10) and home vs. Deer Park (June 11). The season will stretch into next week — after graduation — with final games, plus a league tournament.
