Nancy Whigham
(1940-2021)
Nancy was born in Spokane, Wash. in 1940 to Jim and Laura. She graduated from Cheney High School in 1958.
Nancy remained active with her classmates through reunions until recently. In the 70’s she married her sweetheart George Whigham Sr. They had two children together.
Nancy was a Christian and was always finding ways to serve in church. Her and George had a children’s ministry that traveled around the Inland Northwest doing puppet shows, Kids Crusades and VBSs. Although she never pastored a church, she was an ordained minister for many years.
Some of her most memorable jobs were teaching preschool, working for Inland Power & Light (where she met George) and later she worked for the United States Post Office in her beloved little town of Marshall, Wash. As the opportunities presented themselves, she delighted in being mom/ grandma to many beyond her own children. They each had a special place in her heart, and she loved them as her own.
She is preceded in death by her husband George. She is survived by her sister Lorna, son James, daughter Joy and their families, and several cousins, especially Sue who was like a sister.
A virtual memorial service will be held via Zoom on Saturday, March 27, at 2 p.m. If you would like to attend, please email [email protected] to request the link. Include in the email if you would like to share a memory (<5mins). If you do not have access to the necessary technology, please call Joy or Heritage Funeral Home for additional information.
Nancy loved the Lord and his Word and so it would be fitting that if you want to make memorial donations, we suggest they be made to Gideon’s International. If you are more locally minded, we suggest UGM as a recipient of charitable donations.
