AIRWAY HEIGHTS — It was another quick study session by the Airway Heights City Council at its March 22 study session with all eyes focused on the next legislative meeting on April 5.
A series of ordinances, six in all, that require further readings, examination and a public hearing, will all be addressed April 5. Because March has five Mondays and the council meets on four, there is no meeting March 29.
Planner Zach Becker reported that the city’s new interactive GIS mapping system should go live on March 26. After months of work the site will allow public access and help answer a myriad of questions that previously required staff assistance.
“That’ll be that’ll be a big deal,” Becker said. “We’ve been working really hard on that. It’ll hopefully bring a lot of really cool tools for the community to take a look at and also for the staff.”
Heather Trautman, principal planner for the city reported that council should have recommendations April 5 for selection of a consultant to guide the new vision process and comprehensive plan. “There were actually two firms that were selected to perform the totality of the work,” she said.
Clerk-Treasurer / Finance Director Stanley Schubert announced that the state auditors had concluded their annual look into the city’s books. They went away, “Very satisfied,” with what they found, noting just a few minor fixes.”
