SPOKANE – The County Library District is offering online programs in February for people of all ages who are looking to stay fit, decorate a cake, view art, and build with LEGO bricks. Kids and families can also try out science experiments, enjoy story times and connect with music through stories.
Fans of stories and LEGOs, of all ages, can take part in “Building with Books: A Lego Storytime” happening Tuesdays in February at 4 p.m. Library patrons can take on a themed cake-decorating challenge in “Nailed It! Valentine’s Day Edition” on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. Explore a gentle-on-the-joints fitness class with Amy Cathey of The Barre Code Spokane, during “Stay Fit at Home” on Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m.
See what local artists of all ages and levels have been creating during the “Virtual Art Show: Winter 2021,” viewable online at www.scld.org/virtual-art-show starting Feb. 19 – March 21. IF interested in entering the show you can register and submit your by Feb. 5 at the same webpage.
“Evening Storytime Online” is a live online event for kids ages 2–5 and their families. Participants read stories, sing songs and share fingerplays on Thursdays in February at 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, Feb. 25, hear stories by African American writers during “Evening Storytime Online: Black History Month.”
“Connecting Stories & Music,” is a celebration of Black History Month enabling exploration of children’s books about fantastic African American musicians who put heart and soul into their music. This program is for kids in grades K–5 and their families and takes place on Monday, Feb. 22, at 6:30 p.m.
Explore experiments you can do with household supplies during “Science from Home with Librarian Molly” each week for kids ages 8 and older and their families on Mondays at 2 p.m. on the district’s Facebook page at www.scld.org/facebook.
