FROM STAFF AND NEW SOURCES
MEDICAL LAKE — Even with all of the challenges 2020 brought, area senior citizens have still remained very active in their community – and it’s time to honor them.
Medical Lake’s Kiwanis Club is now accepting nominations for its annual Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year. In a news release, organizers stated that reasons for nominating someone for the award don’t necessarily need to be limited only to what they did in 2020, but can go back as far as the person making the nomination considers relevant.
“We encourage you to nominate individuals who have not been chosen in the previous years as a Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year,” the Kiwanis Club said in the release.
Nominations should be submitted in writing, with the deadline for nominations being Feb. 8. Nominations forms can be obtained by calling Daniel Dorshorst at 509-995-1099.
The Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year is announced and honored on Feb. 13, as part of a modified annual Kiwanis Senior Citizen Valentine’s Day Dinner. Due to the pandemic health and safety protocols, the club planning to sponsor a drive through meal pick-up behind The Fischin Hole.
The Senior Citizen Volunteer of the Year will also be honored in the annual Founder’s Day Parade (if held) June 19, 2021, in Medical Lake.
