Highway 902 down to one lane in Medical Lake after crash

Juvenile female flipped stolen car into car wash parking lot

MEDICAL LAKE--Highway 902 is down to one lane of alternating traffic at milepost 7 in town near Conoco and Subway after a 17-year-old female flipped a stolen purple Honda off the road into the Medical Lake Car Wash parking lot.

Sergeant Tod Surdam of Washington State Patrol said he was making a routine traffic stop around 9:30 a.m. today when the female took off, going 23 miles per hour over the speed limit and topping off at 90 miles per hour. She then lost control and flipped the car twice into the car wash parking lot.

The female also reportedly clipped another vehicle and took out a fire hydrant and utility box. She was transported to Sacred Heart with minor injuries.

Surdam said when authorities ran the license plate, they realized the car was stolen and the female didn't have a license.

Officials expected the highway to re-open at 11:35 a.m. as of 10:45 a.m.

UPDATE: WSDOT East reported that the crash had cleared at 11:33 a.m.
