Cheney Congregational Church

Greetings! Cheney Congregational is currently hosting outdoor Sunday worship services in our parking lot at 10 a.m.

We have developed a Covid-19 safety plan that is in compliance with guidelines set up by the state. Masks are required and we are using social distancing among other safety precautions. We will be meeting outside in our parking lot for the foreseeable future.

We encourage you to bring your own lawn chair, and we will have chairs provided. As the weather gets colder, we invite you to drive up in your car to participate in the service through your car radio. If it is rainy or cold then we will have the service broadcasting live to your car radio, so you can still come, park in the parking lot with everyone else and participate with us.  We hope to see you there.

This is a difficult time. Our prayers and blessings go out to you.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

Greeting from Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Although we cannot worship together as a congregation, we invite the West Plains community to access our website http://www.emmanuelcheney.org for weekly worship materials, sermon, and Zoom fellowship. If you should need pastoral support during this difficult time, please contact pastor Arianna Arends at 509-954-5886.

Emmanuel plans to gather for worship services two weeks after Spokane County opens Phase 3. Will update if plans change.

Our Free Community Pantry remains open to the community and all are invited to take what they need and leave what they can. Donations of non-perishable food and personal care items for all ages are greatly appreciated. Thank you for your continued support of this important ministry to our neighbors in need.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church

A welcoming haven, nourishing all God’s people in body, mind and spirit. Rev. Kathryn Lamphere, our vicar, will preach and preside, offering Sunday morning prayer at 11 a.m.

All safety and sanitizing measures will be strictly observed, in particular wearing masks and keeping social distancing. All are welcome.

The memorial service in honor of our deceased priest, Rev. Christine Soule, is postponed and will be rescheduled later, to be held at St. John’s Cathedral. We will keep you informed.

For your contemplation: “Healing means, first of all, the creation of an empty but friendly space where those who suffer can tell their story to someone who can listen with real attention...As healers we have to receive the story of our fellow human beings with a compassionate heart, a heart that does not judge or condemn but recognizes how the stranger’s story connects with our own. We have to offer safe boundaries within which the often painful past can be revealed and the search for a new life can find a start.” Henri M. Nouwen

United Methodist Church

“Cling to Christ” is great advice in this time of Covid and is also the worship theme this Sunday at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Pat Sleeth will be preaching on this topic from Max Lucado’s book, “Anxious for Nothing,” in a continuation of a sermon series based on the book. Holy Communion will be celebrated this Sunday.

While our doors remain closed at the church our worship is available online or with an at home worship guide. You can download the guide from the church website at http://www.cheneyumc.org. You may also contact pastor Alissa Bertsch at 509-879-2278 if you would like be added to our mailing list for a hard copy. Our doors may be closed but our hearts and minds remain open as we cling to Christ.
