Sullivan Family Farms grand opening Saturday

WILLIAMS LAKE, Wash. – Sullivan Family Farms is holding the grand opening of its farm stand this Saturday, Sept. 12, at 14411 W. Williams Lake Road.

The grand opening takes place from 9 a.m. – noon, and will feature prizes such as T-shirts, sunflower bunches, locally made pop tarts, cookies and a grand prize spring subscription to customers who come early.

According to a news release, the farm was founded by Louise Sullivan, her sons and their families. In her recovery process from a long-term abusive relationship, Sullivan teamed with her mother Bernice, a noted St. Maries, Idaho gardener, to purchase property along Williams Lake Road for the farm.

Bernice Sullivan passed away before the move to the farm, and to honor her legacy, family and friends planted hundreds of daffodils in the new location.

Two Brown Swiss oxen, Coke and Sprite, accompany a herd of Simmental and Angus cows and calves. Louise’s daughter, Becca, helped expand the flower component of the farm by planting additional varieties using sustainable methods and materials in raised beds and repurposed culverts along with other recycled materials.

Additionally, the bouquets produced are designed in mason jars so they can be reused. These flowers can also be found at “pop-ups” hosted by West Plains Roasters in downtown Cheney.
