Authorities say fire is 80% contained
MEDICAL LAKE--A brush fire that broke out at 12:32 p.m. north of state Highway 902 and east of Bartholomew Road on Aug. 27 has spread to approximately 200 acres as of 10 a.m. today (Aug. 28). About 50 acres are on Fairchild Air Force Base.
Authorities consider the fire to be 80% contained, according to Guy Gifford with the Department of Natural Resources. However, one residential structure and three outbuildings have been lost.
"There's a fire trail 100% around the fire," Gifford said. "Crews today are focusing on securing that fire trail and mopping up with a goal of 100-foot perimeter."
