June 20 sprint boat race in St. John shifts to Sept. 26

ST. JOHN – Because of the restrictions placed on sporting events across the state of Washington due to COVID-19, the Webb’s Slough Jet Sprint race originally scheduled for Saturday, June 20 will move to Saturday, Sept. 26.

“With the Washington State Governor’s announcement of the several phases before Washington businesses can reopen, we know it will be months before events of our size will be permitted and acceptable to take place. We know some of you will be disappointed and we know some of you will be relieved because of the safety concerns,” promoters Matt and Amanda Webb announced in an emailed release.

“It is with this knowledge, and the fact that the safety and experience of every fan, team, volunteer, vendor and sponsor has always been the top priority for us at Webb’s Slough that we make this decision,” the statement added.

The Webb’s remain hopeful that their Aug. 29 race will take place as planned.

“August and September will be a better time to invite our fans to enjoy the community of St. John,” the Webbs said. “We are grateful to our loyal fans for making Webb’s Slough Sprint Boat Races the amazing events they have become.”

June ticket holders will have their tickets honored at the new Sept. 26 race. For refunds of tickets purchased online if unable to attend the new September date please email Brown Paper Tickets [email protected]. Refunds for tickets purchased in-person at the Spokane RV Show if unable to attend the new September date please call the Webb’s Slough office 509-648-8900.
