SPOKANE VALLEY – Cheney Middle School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) students had a great showing at the 2020 Northeast Regional Winter Conference at the Spokane Valley Assembly of God church on Feb. 6. The chapter had all nine of its attending students place in the top six of events, advancing to the State Business Leadership Conference in Spokane in April.
As a chapter, students placed 18 times in eight different events. This Winter Conference was attended by 21 different local high schools, three local middle schools and over 400 students.
Of the nine competitors, the highlight of the day was eighth-grader, Halley Doney, placing first in four different events.
All of the CMS members are eligible to continue to the state conference to be held in April 8-11 at The Grand Davenport hotel in Spokane. Students who place in the top four at the State Conference qualify to attend the FBLA National Leadership Conference from June 28 to July 3 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Also competing in Spokane Valley and heading to state are Sarah Bolstad, Robyn Horvath, Chloe Kelton, Will Pelayo, Rylan Rajewski, Alexsandra Swenson, Dellany Torres and Shya Joseph.
