AIRWAY HEIGHTS – The city of Airway Heights held its Community Connect event at the Recreation Center on Monday afternoon, Feb. 24. Ice Cream donated by the local Dairy Queen was distributed by the police to attendees and prizes were raffled.
Displays filled the meeting space to explain the city’s Comprehensive Plan updates and budget. Officials were present to answer questions and visit with the public. Law enforcement representing the city, Fairchild and the Kalispel Tribe were also in attendance and a big hit with the children. The event was well attended by community members.
Kenneth Brown, a former area farmer of land near the corrections center and school, was in attendance with his wife Paulette. He feels the growth and changes to the area are a healthy transition from agriculture.
Brown’s wife, however, has reservations about the changes. They now reside in Reardan, but are keenly interested in what is happening in Airway Heights, where they attend church, shop and visit friends and family.
The city would like to hear from people about future Parks and Recreation programs by completing the online survey at http://www.airwayheightsparksandrec.org.
