Moffett sets state record for points

MEDICAL LAKE — Odessa’s Ryan Moffett set the all-time prep basketball state scoring record Saturday against Cusick.

Moffett’s record is currently at 3,112, and counting. He has at least four more games this season.

The 5-foot-11 senior passed the record on his 11th of 22 points in the 70-56 win over Cusick in the NE1B district semifinal at Medical Lake High School.

Inglemoor player signs with Eastern

KENMORE — A football player at Inglemoor High School has signed his national letter of intent to play for Eastern Washington University.

Trevor Thurman, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound running back, was named as a 4A King County Crown second-team offensive player and first-team defensive player last fall.

Mat Maulers season starts

MEDICAL LAKE — The Mat Maulers Wrestling Club is practing for its first tournament.

The club for grapplers ages 5-14 opens tournament action March 7 at Spokane North Central.

Other events are March 14 in Springdale, March 21 in Chewelah, March 28 at Gonzaga Prep and April 4 in Spokane.
