AIRWAY HEIGHTS – On Saturday, Feb. 1, Spokane County Fire District 10 and the Sunset Volunteer Firefighter Association hosted their annual member awards appreciation banquet. In a Feb. 13 news release, district officials stated that while all members commit to a tremendous amount of time, special recognition was bestowed on the following award winners:
Chief’s Award – Emily Walston
Officer of the Year – Lt Jared Murphy
Firefighter of the Year – FF Josh Baker
Rookie of the Year – FF Lorissa Britos
Support Services of the Year – Captain Ron Wood
Resident of the Year – McKenna Jimno
Additional awards were also presented.
“It was with great honor that we were able to recognize our members for all their contributions to the West Plains,” District Fire Chief Ken Johnson said in an email. “We also need to thank Airway Heights Fire Department for helping cover the district during our celebration in order for all of our members to participate.”
Spokane County Fire District 10 is a combination career and volunteer fire district serving 85 square miles in the West Plains. The agency responds from five strategically located fire stations to approximately 1,100 all hazard calls with 12 full time and 70 volunteers including Firefighters/EMT and Support Services personnel.
