Suspicious package at Fairchild cleared

FAIRCHILD AFB -- A suspicious package found this morning at Fairchild Air Force Base's gate on Rambo Road was determined to be nothing of importance, base officials said.

According to a public affairs spokeswoman, security forces at the gate found the package while doing vehicle checks around 8:45 a.m. All traffic was shutdown and a 1,000 foot cordon was set up around the gate.

An Explosive Ordinance Disposal team arrived and retrieved the package, determining it posed no threat and was nothing of importance. The situation was cleared around 9:30 a.m.
