Owner calls first day business 'brisk'
MEDICAL LAKE - After much anticipation from local and regional customers, Lefevre Street Bakery and Cafe reopened today, Jan. 24, after a six-month hiatus that saw the business change hands.
The doors officially opened at 6:30 a.m., and according to new owner Victoria Shoemaker, business was "brisk" as a steady stream of customers came and went.
Alan Colvin and Michael Davis were eating and enjoying a cup of coffee for what they termed a "safety meeting," something they did regularly before the bakery closed in July.
"I think it's great," Davis said, adding that the bakery had done well before, and things hadn't changed. "Everything was good. Too good!"
Although official hours are 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., the anticipation was apparently so great that one young 8-year-old patron even showed up a half-hour early with his mom in tow saying, "I just want to eat some food."
He was let in.
