Yanni to appear at Northern Quest April 9

AIRWAY HEIGHTS – A mastermind of the keys and an influencer of New Age music, global artist Yanni will bring his world-acclaimed compositions to Northern Quest Resort & Casino’s Pend Oreille Pavilion on Thursday, April 9, 2020.

In a Jan. 6 news release, NQR officials said that with 16 studio and seven live albums, multiple world-wide tours and performances in some of the most unique venues across the globe, Yanni is a force among the greatest musicians and composers of all time. His remarkable sense of musicality brings together sounds representing cultures from across the world. It’s not rare to hear an Australian didgeridoo, Indian tabla, Celtic violin or Armenian duduk within his arrangements.

Born in Kalamata, Greece, his Greek heritage runs deep and inspired the first of his studio albums. On Sept. 23, 1993, Yanni performed at the 2,000-year-old Herod Atticus Theater in Athens, filming the live show Yanni: Live at the Acropolis. The show reached 65 countries and hit more than half-a-billion viewers on PBS, becoming the second best-selling music concert video of all time.

Along with the Acropolis, Yanni performed at famous monuments including the Toji Temple in Japan, Royal Albert Hall in London, Taj Mahal in India, and Forbidden City in China, among many others.

On top of his performances across the world, more than a dozen of Yanni’s albums reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100 for New Age Albums, with Dare to Dream (1992) and In My Time (1993) receiving Grammy Award nominations as well. Since 2010, he has released three more albums and performed at the El Morro in Puerto Rico for a live taping, marking his 10th performance supporting PBS, claiming the title as a top fundraiser for the station.

Yanni continues to tour, celebrating more than 35 years of creating music and connecting people across the world — representing his “one world, one people” philosophy.

April 9 show time is 7:30 p.m. Ticket prices are $59/$79/$99 and go on sale Friday, Jan. 10 at 9 a.m.
