Cheney snow crews tackle hills

CHENEY -- With an expected lull in the snow fall over the next few days, Cheney snow plow crews will move from keeping arterials open to clearing residential side streets.

Public Works Director Todd Ableman told the City Council at its first meeting in 2020 on Tuesday, Jan. 14, that beginning Wednesday, crews of four will begin "working up and down the hills" clearing snow from Mary to L streets. Ableman said part of the challenge is that over half of the crews have never used a loader to clear snow before, so some training is required.

Ableman said now major snow events are in the foreseeable future, which should allow crews to eventually clear the entire city.
