We also have a children’s area in the sanctuary. Sunday, Dec. 8, is Covenant Sunday for those wishing to join and those wishing to reaffirm their membership in Cheney Congregational Church.

For fellowship and good discussion join the men’s breakfast at the Marketplace Bakery & Eatery, or the women’s breakfast at Bene’s Sunday, at 7:45 a.m. Women’s Fellowship is meeting at 11:30 a.m. Sunday for a cookie exchange and planning session. The “Lunch Bunch” meets Thursday, Dec. 12, at noon for food, fun and fellowship.

Youth in grades 6–12 are joining youth from other Cheney churches for fellowship and dinner from 4:30–6:30 p.m. each Sunday at the United Methodist Church. ELM Campus Ministry meets Mondays from 5–7 p.m. for dinner and fellowship at Emanuel Lutheran Church.

Picture Sunday continues Sunday Dec. 8. We are creating a new membership directory, updating information, and taking new pictures.

Please join us for worship. We would like to meet you.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church

The congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran Church invites you to our Thursday mid-week Advent soup supper and Holden Evening Prayer services on Dec. 5, 12 and 19. Soup supper is served at noon followed by Holden Evening Prayer at 12:45. All are welcome.

This Sunday, Dec. 8, we will have our “Hanging of the Greens” at the end of the worship service as we decorate the sanctuary for Christmas. Please plan to attend.

Adult education meets at 9 a. m. on Sunday mornings in the upper kitchenette.

Mark your calendar and plan to worship with us at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

All are welcome to visit Emmanuel’s Little Free Library and Free Community Pantry located at 639 Elm St. Donations of books, non-perishable food, and personal care items for all ages are always accepted. Both are open to the community 24/7. Emmanuel thanks you for your continued support of this outreach ministry to our neighbors in need.

United Methodist Church

You are invited into the “Joy” of the season as we celebrate the second Sunday of Advent this week at the United Methodist Church. Pastor Alissa Bertsch will lead the 10 a.m. service and preach from the books of Romans and Isaiah. A multi-age Sunday school class meets each Sunday at 9 a.m.

The ecumenical youth group will meet at the church at 4:30 p.m. and then join with the adult fellowship for a combined dinner and celebration at 5:30. Ham will be provided for the meal and then all will join in the fun of a white elephant gift exchange. Recycled gifts are the best for this exchange but if you must buy something please spend no more than $5.

Looking ahead with much anticipation, the chancel choir will present a Christmas Cantata at the church on Sunday Dec. 15 beginning with carols played on the organ at 3:45 p.m. followed by the Cantata at 4. This event is free and open to the public and promises to be a delightful musical treat.

Please call the church office for additional information on other worship and study opportunities during office hours, Tuesday – Thursday from 4:30–8 p.m.
