RENTON — The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association recently announced venues for the 2019 state football championships.
The six championship games will be held at Sparks Stadium, in Puyallup, Harry E. Lang Stadium in Lakewood and Mt. Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma, according to a press release.
Mt. Tahoma Stadium in Tacoma will host the state 1B and 4A championships, Sparks Stadium in Puyallup will host the 3A and 2A championships while Harry E. Lang Stadium will host the 1A and 2B championships.
All games are scheduled as doubleheaders on Dec. 7. The first game kicks off at noon followed by a 4 p.m. start for the second.
The three stadiums are located within 13 miles of one another, which allows fans to view multiple games during the day. Tickets purchased at one location will be valid at all three sites.
Schools from similar geographic areas in Central or Eastern Washington will have the option of playing the game locally at a mutually agreed upon venue if they advance to the championship level.
The game will be played as originally scheduled if agreement on a more local venue can’t be reached.
