Event begins at 6:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27
FOUR LAKES - Spokane photographer Ryan Rowe will be spending 3,500 minutes
fishing from a float tube on Sliver Lake this weekend to raise money for Family Promise of
Spokane's Open Doors 24/7 emergency shelter for children and families.
The 3,500 minutes represents the number of homeless children in Spokane County,
according to the fundraiser's Facebook page.
The goal is to raise $35,000 during the 58-hour event. Other fisherman are invited to join either in real-time or digitally and contribute to the fundraising goal that has already raised $495 as of mid-day Thursday, the fundraiser's Facebook page said.
Rowe and his support team will be at the north end of Silver Lake for the event, which kicks-off at 6:59 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
Rowe plans to live-stream the event via Facebook, talking periodically to fishing experts and Family Promise representatives.
Last year, the event raised $18,000, officials said.
Rowe will have his work cut out for him this year - a cold front is forecast to roll through the area this weekend, bringing with it strong northern winds and below-freezing temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.
