Plan for closures on westbound I-90

RITZVILLE – Westbound Interstate 90 will close for two, 36-hour windows in the coming weeks for an overpass demolition and replacement.

According to the state Department of Transportation, the closures are planned for:

6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, until 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 3

6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, until 6 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 17

Westbound I-90 drivers will be detoured at the Tokio interchange around the Danekas Road overpass, officials said. Detours for the Danekas Road overpass begin Sept. 30.

The overpass was damaged by an over-sized truck that hit the span last May, officials said. Transportation crews will demolish the overpass, install new girders and rebuild the structure.
