Spokane Symphony season preview, passes available at library

The Spokane County Library District announces the opportunity to meet Spokane Symphony’s new music director, James Lowe, and hear about the upcoming 74th season of the Spokane Symphony. The district is presenting: “Lowe Down on the New Symphony Season” at the North Spokane Library on Tuesday, Sept. 10 from 2 – 3 p.m. Lowe will be joined by Spokane Symphony concertmaster and lead violinist, Mateusz Wolski, who will play a short selection of music.

Lowe will preview the 74th season of the Spokane Symphony — all 10 Masterworks concerts (formerly called “Classics”) and six Pops concerts — along with the highlights of other musical events presented by the symphony — including “Ancient Tales of Magic: Music of Harry Potter and other Halloween Favorites” in October, the orchestra’s New Year’s Eve tradition of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and the new “Movies and Music” series. There will be a question and answer session as well.

One lucky attendee will receive a door prize of two tickets to the Masterworks 1 concert. This event is free and open to the public.

In addition to this event, the Library District has Spokane Symphony passes to two Sunday matinee performances, available to in-district library customers. Multiple passes are available for each performance, and each pass is for one ticket that must be exchanged at the Symphony box office at least two hours prior to the show.

Passes will be available for two October performances:

Oct. 6 at 3 p.m. — Masterworks 2: Garden Romance

Conductor James Lowe with guest artist Robert Belinić, guitar

Oct. 20 at 3 p.m. — Masterworks 3: Soviet Transcendence

Conductor James Lowe with guest artist

Joshua Roman, cello

All performances are at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox in downtown Spokane, 1001 W. Sprague Ave.
