Cheney FBLA excels at national conference

The Cheney FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) team had a great showing at the FBLA National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, TX June 30-July 2.

The team had 24 members attend and all members exhibited excellent performances at the conference, according to a press release. In the end, Cheney placed top 10 in the nation in four events with seven members earning trophies. 

The Cheney High School team was the second most-recognized FBLA chapter in the state.

Winning chapter members included Dylan Doney, Lucy Nester and Marisa Mendoza taking sixth place in Management Decision Making, JT Gasper and Holden McNaul taking fifth place in Network Design, Beckett Schoenleber earning 10th place in Sales Presentation and Sara Nanny taking ninth place in Word Processing.

Jamie Sprague qualified for finals in Client Service, placing her in the top 15 in the nation in that event.

The seven trophies is the most the chapter has won since winning seven in Atlanta, GA in 2016.

Cheney also placed top 10 for the thirdtime in nine years in Network Design and has made top 15 in Network Design each of the last three years.

Westwood middle schooler Jason Hafield earned recognition at the conference by taking a Middle School Business Communication test and placing first in the nation.
