Letter to the Editor
Citizen-led efforts to save, relocate and restore Cheney’s 1929 Northern Pacific Railway Depot received a solid boost last month with a donation of $10,000 from a local donor who wishes to remain anonymous, but who asked that the gift be earmarked “in memory of the Cheney men who built the depot.” It seems that a public acknowledgment of this generosity is in order.
We are grateful, too, for the numerous donations received in memory of our friend and co-founder of the Cheney Depot Society), Dr. Charles V. Mutschler.
To date, we have received generous donations in Charlie’s memory from Janet Prendergast; Martin and Rita Seedorf; Rose Knight; Jerry and Jennifer King, Richard and Mariann Donley, David and Mary Daugherty, Rhonda Stradling Lara; James Grant, Mary Gray, Robert Gibbs, Jeffrey and Susan Crouch, Max Kunze, the Wednesday Night Club and the Mutschler family.
As plans for the Cheney Depot project are progressing, we thank the many members of the community who are lending support to this effort!
The Cheney Depot Society
Board of Directors,
John Taves,
President
