The backyard rock wall is line with yellow basket of gold alyssum, purple aubreitia and several colors of tulips, some which still are in bloom.
John Taves said at one point he and a large selection of iris, which stemmed from just three plants given to him by a friend when he worked for the Bonneville Power Administration in Portland, Ore. The plants survived a move from there to Seattle and eventually to Cheney, where he currently has served on the City Council since being appointed by former Mayor Tom Trulove in September 2012 and successful election in November of that year.
The Taves receive a $25 gift certificate from Jarms Ace Hardware. Picture left to right are Gardeners of Cheney member Betty Ray, Kiwanis Club’s Pat Isbell and John Taves.
