Seven losses and seven wins for Medical Lake soccer

The Medical Lake soccer team has been part of a back and forth battle this year, losing seven games in a row to kick off the season but coming back hard with just as many subsequent wins.

Last week the team took on Deer Park, with the Cardinals (7-8,7-5) trailing by one at the end of the first half. The second half saw the team’s offense return with a vengeance, with Carter Pivonka delivering an assist in the 43rd minute and a goal in the 76th minute that secured the team a 4-2 win.

Against Lakeside on April 25, the Cards couldn’t maintain the momentum in the regular season finale, falling 3-1 to a powerhouse team from Lakeside (15-0, 12-0). Lakeside has won back-to-back Northeast A League titles and extended its win streak to 14 games. A second half Medical Lake goal spurred the idea of a comeback, but was quickly squashed by two Lakeside goals.

Medical Lake took three shots to Lakeside’s 11.

The Cardinals will see Colville in round one of NEA district play on May 2.
