The Cheney boys golf team has been holding its own on the course, moving steadily up the ranks as the season progresses.
On April 19 at the second Great Northern League meet, Cheney took fourth, earning a team score of 515.5. East Valley trailed behind with 565, while Pullman, Clarkston and West Valley snagged the top three spots with 448, 466 and 497 points respectively. Blackhawk Nate Koohns earned the best finish of the day with 74 strokes.
At the team’s third GNL meet on Thursday, April 23, the news was even better, with Cheney bumping West Valley out of the top three and winning third place overall with a score of 477. Pullman at 435 and Clarkston at 453 rounded out the first and second spots, with West Valley and East Valley following with scores of 491 and 567.
Cheney’s Thomas Baycroft captured third place individually with 81 strokes, followed by Koohns in fourth with 83.
The team’s fourth GNL tournament is set to take place in Pullman on May 2.
