Saturday’s event will also benefit local charitable organization
NAPA Auto Parts has a chance to break the Guinness World Record for “most cars washed in an eight-hour period” when the Cheney store and many others around the country begin the exciting event Saturday, April 27. The current record holder is the Repco gas company in Australia with 6,277 cars washed.
Marty Walker, NAPA retail business development manager, said he is very excited for the event and would love to break the world record with everyone’s help. He also said that the purpose for the event is to partner with the community and to have fun.
“We absolutely expect to break (the world record),” Walker said. “I have no doubt with this team that we will execute and shatter the record.”
It will be the first time that NAPA will do this carwash event. To help out, the West Plains Angels, a non-profit organization, has partnered with NAPA to make sure that everyone has fun while also having citizens participate in setting a new world record. Tony Blount, chief executive officer and founder of West Plains Angels, said he and his organization are also excited about taking a shot at the record.
“The West Plains Angels are grateful and thankful for the wonderful opportunity that was given to us by NAPA Auto Parts to help them break the Guinness Book of World Records of the most cars washed in an eight-hour period,” Blount said. “Since we received that great offer to help, we have been very fortunate to secure four carwash teams comprised of our West Plains community youth that are all enriching the quality of our community. They are all to be admired, respected and supported for the good activities that they are involved in body, mind and spirit.”
The four carwash teams that will be at the Cheney NAPA store are The Medical Lake Jr. ROTC, Medical Lake Team Circuit Breakers, Medical Lake Drama Class and the Cheney Community Church’s Awana Club. The West Plains Angels and the four teams will also be receiving donations from customers during the carwash.
Walker said that he hopes to have a lot of customers come for support due to having great customer service and remodeling the store to make it more customer friendly. He also said that discounts and specials will be provided during the event.
“We got the entire West Plains Angels organization run by Tony, who does a fabulous job of coordinating and getting people (to the store),” Walker said. “We’re going to have a ton of people and a ton of fun. We’re going to have a bunch of cars and do our best to shatter the record.”
Blount agrees with Walker, saying he also feels confident about breaking the world record with the help from the four carwash teams.
“In my mind, breaking the world record is a wonderful goal to have,” Blount said. “I’m just thrilled that all these great teams are getting together and sharing their experiences and all the good things that they are doing and our community making a better community.”
Walker said that he is confident about citizens participating and supporting NAPA in helping to break the world record.
“It’s going to be a fun day,” Walker said. “Bring your kids and your cars and find outstanding deals at 25 percent off. Everything in store is going to be on sale. It should be a home run for everybody.”
NAPA’s carwash event starts this Saturday, April 27, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Cheney store. Many other stores around the country will start at the exact same time. Bene’s Restaurant will provide a chuck wagon that serves pizza hot wings, and nachos. Cost for the event is donation only.
